What this is
Wollongong Bathroom Renovations is a local referral service for bathroom, ensuite, laundry and rental bathroom work around the Illawarra. You tell us about the room, a measure gets booked, and the licensed builder who'd do the job gives you a written quote.
We're not a building company. We don't have trades on the payroll and we don't hold a builder's licence. Plenty of websites in this game are set up the same way and don't say so. We'd rather be upfront.
Who does the work
Renovation work is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request.
Please check them. The NSW Fair Trading licence register shows who holds the licence, what class it is, whether it's current and whether there's been any disciplinary action. It takes about a minute, and you should do it for any builder, not just this one.
Plumbing, electrical, waterproofing and asbestos removal need their own licences in NSW and are done by appropriately licensed trades.
Why focus on the Illawarra
Because Wollongong bathrooms have their own set of problems, and generic advice misses them:
- Miners' cottages and fibro homes with bathrooms in old add-ons, on timber floors, often with asbestos in the walls
- Seventies and eighties brick veneer in Figtree, Unanderra and Dapto with leaking shower bases and cramped ensuites
- Escarpment humidity that grows mould on any bathroom ceiling without proper ventilation
- Salt air near the beach that eats cheap tapware
- Student rentals near the university that need tough, fast-turnaround bathrooms
- Units in North Wollongong and the city with strata rules and no room to move the plumbing
Knowing that going in means a quote that's closer to the final bill.
What you won't see here
- Reviews or ratings. The site's new. There aren't any, and we haven't made some up.
- Numbers you can't check, like how many bathrooms have been done or how long anyone's been at it.
- Phone quotes. A fibro cottage in Corrimal and a brick veneer ensuite in Dapto are different jobs.
- Promises about approvals. Wollongong City Council, a certifier or your owners corporation decides those.
How a job goes
Measure, written quote, selections locked, then the work. In NSW, the deposit on residential building work can't be more than 10 per cent, and on jobs over $20,000 home building compensation cover must be in place before one's requested. See how a job runs and prices.
